Pulau Ubin Sunday, May 13, 2007 ![]() Many pple may not believe it but this is my first time going to pulau ubin, althou being a singaporean for 21 yrs liao. My colleagues n I met at Changi Village before taking a boat to the outer island. The trip there was pretty fast, arnd 15 min and cost 2 bucks. There is a big group of 25 of us from NKF. We split into 3 groups n rented our bikes which cost us 10 buck, which i tot was pretty ex. Well soon we were on our way to the quarry. As it was a big group, the pace of the group was pretty leisurely. The slopes were rather steep in some areas and quite tiring acty. Upon reaching the temple, it was break time n pple were busy taking snap shots of the surrounding. The road was blocked off and thus we were forced to turn back n move towards noordin beach. the bike went skiding and i was flung in mid air. The landing was pretty bad, i suffered cuts and abrasions on my hands n legs. Wendy also fell off her bike n torn her jeans! Guess we are not relli good bikers.... The next rest point was at a coconut stall, where we enjoyed the cooling drink under the hot hot sun. The chinese nurses oso whipped out their food stuffs, juz a picnic. Next stop was the beautiful Noordin Beach. We also played some games to interact with each other and also self intro each other. Everyone was sweating from the long ride. We locals, were thoroghly impressed by the chinese nurses who were able to ride the bike wif one hand n take photo of each other wif the other. They also dun relli seem to be tired by the ride. Following this we visited orchid garden which Chnl 5 featured be4, the owner was acty a nkf patient... Look at this old old boar!!! We rounded off the trip by having lunch at the village centre. The services of restaurant there was as slow as the pace of life on ubin, totallu unbearable. But i guess we gonna live wif it. The food was qiute yummy so the wait was worthwhile. The ride back to singapore was also eventful. Within 2 min of getting off the island, the boat engine stalled n we were left stranded in the middle of the sea. Wanling they all were still joking abt we guys jumping off n pushing the boat! Well the engine did not desert us for too long, and after some repairs, came alive to our relief... |
